Congress MLAs bring up the murders of Junaid and Nasir; accuse the Haryana government of favouring “gau rakshak” Monu Manesar.

Monu Manesar: The deaths of Junaid and Nasir, whose families are seeking justice and compensation, were found inside a burned-out Mahindra Bolero in Bhiwani last week. On Wednesday, Haryana’s Congress MLAs launched a stinging attack on the BJP-JJP government.

The opposition MLAs from Punhana, Firozpur Jhirka, and Nuh, Mohd Ilyas, Maman Khan, and Aftab Ahmed, voiced concerns about the suspected involvement of the police and the government-nominated “gau rakshaks,” including Monu Manesar, one of the fugitive defendants, in the killings of Junaid and Nasir.

At the Zero Hour in the Assembly, Maman Khan highlighted another incident that reportedly included Monu while flashing images.

“Monu Manesar’s gang kidnapped a youth a few months back. Officers also arrived but did not get involved. That young person was later discovered deceased in a car accident. Monu is seen posing for photos with a number of powerful figures. Does he intend to frighten us by bragging about his connections to political heavyweights? Khan urged the administration to fully look into the situation.

The state administration and police are responsible for arming such “gau rakshaks” with high-tech weapons. Has someone recruited them to slaughter Muslims? Why is there no restriction on them by the government? They misbehave around our daughters and make rude comments about them. The police would rather file fake complaints against us than take any action against these thugs, the Firozpur Jhirka MLA remarked, when citizens try to stop them and intervene.

Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala assured the Assembly that the government will form a committee with the Rewari inspector general of police as its chairman to conduct a fresh probe into the incident mentioned by the MLA. He further requested that Khan provide the committee with all of the supporting documentation for his claims.
