According to reports, the Portuguese fullback has visited Bayern Munich in preparation for a prospective loan move to the German champions, who would have the option to purchase Cancelo for $76 million at 70 million euros.
Cancelo, an attacking defender who can play at right back or left back, has been a key player for City in recent seasons but has lost the manager Pep Guardiola’s favour since the World Cup.
In City’s nine games across all competitions since domestic play began in late December following the tournament in Qatar, Cancelo has only started three of them.
Cancelo has been replaced by Nathan Ake at left back, and 18-year-old Rico Lewis has established himself as Kyle Walker’s rival at right back.
Neither City nor Bayern have made official statements on Cancelo acquisition.
