Mughal Gardens Will Now Be Known as Amrit Udyan

New Delhi: As part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” festivities, the gardens at the President’s official residence, Rashtrapati Bhavan, have been given a common name. Bulldozers were used to remove the outdated “Mughal Gardens” road sign and haul it away.

According to Navika Gupta, the president’s deputy press secretary, “On the occasion of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the President of India has given a common name to the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens as Amrit Udyan.”

Mughal Gardens

The Rashtrapati Bhavan has three gardens that were modelled as Persian and Mughal Garden. The garden that was modelled after a similar one in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, came to be known as the “Mughal Gardens” by both the general public and the authorities. Though, The name was never formally given to the gardens.

Amrit Udyan, which covers 15 acres, is frequently referred to as the presidential palace’s heart. According to the Rashtrapati Bhavan website, Amrit Udyan is inspired by the Mughal Grounds in Jammu & Kashmir, the gardens surrounding the Taj Mahal, and even miniature paintings of India and Persia.
