Noida: Man arrested over death of a delivery boy in an accident on New Year’s

On the night of 1st January , 24-year-old Kaushal Yadav lost his life in a road accident near Noida Sector 14A. According to the Gautam Buddh Nagar police, Kaushal’s bike was hit by a vehicle.

Police have arrested a person for his alleged involvement in the death of Swiggy delivery executive Yadav. The accused has been identified as Amar Bahadur Yadav.

According to the police, preliminary reports and the allegations of Kaushal’s family members suggest that Kaushal was dragged for several hundred metres, although the police said that the CCTV footage did not indicate so.

Officials said the accused had dropped a passenger traveling with the help of a ride-hailing app at Noida’s Sector 137 and was returning to Ghaziabad via Chilla border.

After the accident, the accused turned his car and ran towards Mahamaya, where the camera installed on the flyover saw the car. Police said the victim died due to excessive bleeding.

When a resident of Noida Sector 74 saw the accident spot while going to Delhi, he took the phone of the deceased with him. When Kaushal’s relatives called the number, he told them that he was a taxi driver and Kaushal met with an accident.

He later returned the phone to the place where he found it. Investigators are questioning him in relation to the incident, as police were not informed of the accident at the time.

At present, a case has been registered at First Phase Police Station under IPC sections related to rash and negligent driving and causing death. And the investigation is on.
