UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently announced the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023, showcasing remarkable achievements by Muslim candidates. Out of a total of 1,016 successful candidates, 50 were from the Muslim community. While the top three ranks were secured by Aditya Srivastava, Animesh Pradhan, and Donuru Ananya Reddy, it’s noteworthy that five Muslim candidates made it to the top 100.

The recently announced results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023 have spotlighted remarkable achievements by Muslim candidates. Out of 1,016 successful candidates, 50 belonged to the Muslim community. Notably, while the top three ranks were clinched by Aditya Srivastava, Animesh Pradhan, and Donuru Ananya Reddy, five Muslim candidates secured positions within the top 100.

Rigorous Journey to Success in UPSC Exams

The journey towards success in UPSC examinations entails traversing through rigorous stages. Commencing with the preliminary examination held on May 28, 2023, candidates undergo meticulous evaluation. Subsequently, the main examination, conducted from September 15 to 24, 2023. The culmination of this journey leads to the final selection list, released post-interviews on February 16, 2024, reflecting an overall success rate of approximately 5%.

Inspiring Success Stories Illuminate Diversity in Civil Services

The success stories of Muslim candidates in the UPSC CSE 2023, including Nausheen, Wardah Khan, and Zufishan Haque, among others, serve as beacons of inspiration. Their accomplishments not only reflect individual brilliance but also contribute significantly to the diversity and inclusivity of the civil services in India.

Muslim Representation in UPSC: Analyzing Yearly Trends:

• 2016: Approximately 4.73% of candidates were Muslim, with 52 out of 1,099 succeeding.

• 2017: About 5.10% of candidates were Muslim, with 50 out of 980 securing success.

• 2018: The percentage dropped to around 3.69%, with only 28 out of 759 candidates from the Muslim community succeeding.

• 2019: Witnessed notable Muslim representation, with approximately 5.31% of successful candidates being Muslim (44 out of 829).

• 2020: A decline was observed, with only around 4.07% of successful candidates being Muslim (31 out of 761).

• 2021: 21 Muslim candidates secured success, representing 3.64% of the total.

• 2022: Only 33 Muslim candidates succeeded, comprising 3.1% of the successful candidates.

Note: These figures starkly contrast with India’s Muslim population percentage, estimated at 17.22% as per the 2011 census.
