Uttarakhand’s CM Pushkar Singh Dhami announces Uniform Civil Code Bill; draft submission by panel set for February 2.

Uniform Civil Code Bill: On Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand announced that a committee of five experts, tasked with creating a draft for a Uniform Civil Code, is set to submit its proposal on February 2. Subsequently, the government will present a Bill in the Assembly to execute the UCC.

“Our commitment to implement a Uniform Civil Code was a promise made to the people of the state during the Uttarakhand Assembly elections. The residents of Devbhoomi bestowed their blessings upon us, empowering us to fulfill this commitment. Under the guidance of Justice Ranjana Desai, we established a committee to formulate a draft,” stated Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in a video message published on the X website on Monday.
